Just as I was about to fall asleep I heard an all mighty screaming from Myles' room, so I rushed in to find Myles thrashing around so as any mam would do I tried to pick him up and comfort him but he was throwing himself out of my arms so I put him back in the cot and tried to give him his dummy but he literally pulled it out and threw it across the room and continued to throw himself about getting his legs and arm trapped and then he stood himself and backed himself in the corner of the cot as far as way as he could whilst his eyes were wide open.
I was terrified as I has no idea what was going on and he just wouldn't responded to me talking to him or picking him up and I turned more and more frantic trying to ring my own mam as to what to do but she didn't hear her phone as she was asleep. In the end I had to lie him down on the floor of his bedroom and let him throw himself around his bedroom floor watching him but he was safer on the floor than getting his limbs caught in the cot.
This went on for 40 minutes and ended just as Daddy walked through the door at 1 am! I panicked and cried throughout the whole episode as I had absolutely no idea what was happening, but after speaking to various people I am now led to believe that he probably suffered a night terror, something I never knew was possible for a 13 month old to suffer from and know now that my reaction probably intensified the situation so armed with some knowledge I know how to deal with it if he should have another one.

13 month old temper tantrums
What a time we have been having with Myles he is suffering from temper tantrums, its like the terrible two's have come early. Being the 3rd child I honestly though I had seen it all before but no the tantrums I have seen Alana and Devon throw are nothing in comparison, he can scream and scream for half n hour and if he hears the word know then we have had it!
The other day he actually lay down in the middle of the floor when we were out and threw himself all over the place and was like a full blown toddler, unfortunately his communication isn't there yet but his level of understanding is brilliant and can follow instructions no bother. He certainly knows what he wants and he knows if someone is stopping him...I foresee so many battles ahead!

My little sidekick is off to nursery!
My gorgeous cheeky butter wouldn't melt baby boy had his first session at nursery all by himself, he has been mega excited about going to nursery asking every day. There was a time not so long ago that I honestly didn't think Devon would be ready, he is very much a mammy's boy and wants me to do everything. But today he surprised me and was super happy to go to nursery that he went and got his uniform and was adamant that he could get himself as he is a big boy now, and he certainly had a good go at it!
He look so super cute in his uniform which was a challenge to get as he is so small and the smallest we could get the ti-shirts in are 3-4 years old which are super huge on him, but he still looks smart nerveless. When he got to nursery he ran straight in no backwards glance or kiss and cuddle for mammy :-( I feel redundant now my baby is growing up, when he came out of nursery he was very quiet but said he had a good time and he made a friend but doesn't know their name!

Asda Little Angels Comfort Dry Nappies
As a lot of people know Huggies nappies are disappearing from the UK market, we have been using Huggies on the boys since they were babies so we weren't sure which brand would live up to the expectations as the other leading brand did not work for us.
In stepped Asda with the offer to try their own brand Little Angels, we only use disposables at night so the longest period a nappy is worn! We were sent a pack of size 4 nappies which are from 7kg-18kgs, we did find the size 4's were to big for 10 kg 1 year old Myles but they were a perfect fit for 3 year old Devon weighing in at 13 kg around the belly and the top's of the legs. Devon can be very particular what nappies he will wear in terms of design but he was content with the spots, so no battles about wearing them for bed!
We have used them for a few weeks now every night and we have yet to have a single leak even though Devon is a notorious wriggler and is never found in the same place in his bed that he fell asleep despite sleeping 12 hrs straight. Devon drinks for Britain so is still a heavy wetter at night but Little Angels has dealt with this no problems and even in the morning Devon has never complained once about being uncomfortable.
Little Angels are very reasonably priced at £5.97 and they always seem to be on offer in our local Asda two packs for £10, its safe to say that we are happy to make the switch from Huggies to Little Angels!

Our Day Out at The Deep, Hull
Since I was young I have had a fascination with all things to do with the deep blue sea and my life time ambition is to swim with sharks so when we were given the chance to review The Deep Aquarium in Hull I jumped at the chance not just for the children but for me!
The whole Deep journey starts with either a quick trip in a lift or a walk up in the stairs and once you have gone through the ticket barrier you come to a huge open space with plenty of room to move with prams and wheelchairs and it's one continuous ramp to get all the way to the bottom, on every single level there is something to do and there is always some daily talk on at one point or the other. The children raced through the first couple of levels until the got to the Lagoon, and from there they sat for ages looking at all the different fishes and rays, even Myles' was fascinated.
Alana and Devon loved the opportunity to feel the crabs and sea urchins in the Touchpool session and they had so much fun jumping in the magic pool, that we had to drag them away! There was so much to see and do that they were running from one place to the next at the speed of lighting, not sure how we had the energy to keep up with them.
There was the chance to climb some ladders to look through a glass bubble and see on the fishes and sharks in the big tank, when we got to the Hall of Slime, the kids were fascinated and took the time to look at the exhibition's and had great fun looking for Nemo and looking at the garden eel's whilst Mammy and Daddy managed to get a glance into the Endless Oceans!
Our journey continued on to a great big wall of ice which Daddy especially had so much fun playing with , Devon was not amused with the cold at all! Then we came to Mammy's favrouite part the glass underwater tunnel with sharks and fishes swimming over our heads, Alana was happy to sit and watch but by this point Devon was getting tired! But he sharp got a new leases of life when we came to the soft play area!
The journey finished with a lift ride surrounded by all the fishes and sharks which we had seen throughout the day and a much needed rest in the cafe which was very reasonably priced.
We were at The Deep for a good few hours even with our tearaways! Our local Sealife centre isn't a patch on The Deep, I would certainly dedicate a whole morning/afternoon to The Deep as we didn't get to stop and look at half of the exhibitions so if you have older children or an adult group visiting you will probably need a bit longer.

Home from Sand Le Mere
Last week we went on holiday to a caravan park in Tunstall, Hull and must say we have a brilliant time, it was so nice to have some good quality time as a family and a week with no internet was bliss in my opinion however the husband could not cope and as soon as we were out and about in the car he was on his phone!
We stayed at Sand-Le-Mere which was a small caravan park which has recently gone through a major redevelopment and we were really impressed with the facilities and how family friendly it was. Our caravan was a lovely 3 bedroom caravan with 2 bathrooms! We had booked an Original caravan but not sure it was an original as the standards were so high and we have radiators for heating rather than blow heater and a TV DVD player.
The swimming pool was absolutely amazing so clean and warm and as a swimming teacher I would love to teach in the pool. There was a small area with a slide and water features with shallow enough water that 3 year old Devon could stand up and move around safely, as well as sun beds around the pool if you just wanted to relax. The changing rooms had plenty of family changing rooms and they were always clean and tidy, and if you have older children parents could sit and relax in the cafe and watch through the window.
There was free soft play on site it wasn't huge but was adequate in relation to the size of the site, and meant it was easy to see when the little ones were all the time. This was the other thing we loved about the arcades they weren't so big and we could keep an eye on the children without them wandering off out of sight something that has been a problem at other caravan parks we have been to in the past. It also meant that it didn't cost us a small fortune as there wasn't the lure of hundreds of arcade machines!
We opted to pre-pay for our meals which included breakfast and evening meal which worked out we saved around £40 on the cost of purchasing food onsite daily. The brilliant concept of the pre-paying for meals was the ability to choose the number of days you wanted to eat on site and then you could pick and choose when you were going to have the meals. All the food was served from the Restaurant and rather than a buffet style meal you could choose what you wanted from the menu with a supplement for a few things but we found that there was ample to choose from on the menu, the cost of the menu was very reasonable that if you didn't opt to pre-pay with most items such as butterfly chicken and BBQ chicken melt (my favrouite were £6.99 and the kids meals which included a drink were £3.95 (Myles loved the Spaghetti Bolognese), the drinks were also very reasonable prices a 16oz coke £1.60 and beers around £3.20. We did find at evening meal times despite it being very quiet we were waiting up to 45 minutes for the food to come meaning the kids getting restless but there was a park and crazy golf which they could access through the restaurant and we could watch them from the warmth inside. Also we did find the breakfast time pointless at 10-12 as a family with 3 young children who tend to wake around 7am were never going to wait until 10am for their breakfast!
All entertainment took place in the show lounge and it had plenty of space and a big dance floor and stage which you could always see regardless of where you sit thanks to too big screens either side of the stage. We did find the entertainment a bit mish mash at times and there was changes to the schedule throughout the week and although there was a kids disco every night the songs were repeated every night but the kids didn't seem to mind and the entertainment staff were brilliant with the kids.
We had a brilliant time through out the whole holiday and we all agree we will be going back in the future, as the park had only opened on the Friday for the beginning of the season and we arrived on the Monday I would be interested to see if it would be so impressive at high season.

Easter Egg Competition
This week at school was Easter Egg Competition, I showed Alana a few idea on the internet and she adapted it to create her own creation from her craft box. I found her a shoe box and she used some green paper for the grass, and made some flowers from pipe cleaners, she then turned 4 hard boiled eggs into 2 bunnies, 1 ladybird and a frog. I'm proud to say she created it all by herself and you could tell them it was a 5 years old work, but when we took her entry into school them appeared to be some very talented children...If you catch my drift! So we didn't think she had any chance of wining but yesterday she came out with a Easter Egg that she had won for her entry, so happy for her as she worked so hard on her project.
